Learn a little about the business.

I truly found my calling when I became a Realtor in 2012. I was waiting tables through getting my MBA, when my grandfather passed away. He was a real estate appraiser, as is my dad. I decided to get my appraiser’s license to help my dad with the family business. I also got my real estate license over Christmas break and joined CJ Brown / Latter & Blum to hold my sales license. Six month later I graduated with my MBA, thinking the world was my oyster and that I could land any job I wanted.

WRONG. Not only were the job opportunities highly disappointing, but I was also hating the appraisal side of real estate. While I was in school, I was selling houses to my classmates, not really keeping track of how well that was going. One day, while I was trying to figure out life, someone from the marketing department of CJ Brown called and asked if they could interview me. Why would you want to interview me? I was very confused.

They proceeded to tell me about how my first year was well above average for a new Realtor and gave me my stats. I thought, “hey, maybe I’m good at this?” So I decided to stick with it for one more year and every year has gotten better. I truly found my calling. It makes me scared looking back to see how close I came to doing anything else!

So here I am, loving what I do, loving my crazy hours, loving my clients. People always ask me how do I do what I do, and I tell them I do not do anything, I would be NOTHING without my clients. People like to think Realtors are self employed and make their own schedules, which could not be farther form the truth and is also why the Realtor fail rate is so high. I am client employed, and I am SO full of gratitude for my people who keep me at the top 1% of Baton Rouge Realtors every year!!
